MJ girls top Wilson Central

GLADEVILLE -- Mt. Juliets Lady Bears dominated in the paint and came away with a 38-29 win at Wilson Central Wednesday. Now 13-6 overall and 6-1 in District 9AAA, Mt. Juliet will be back in action Friday as they play Lebanon at Campbell Brandon Gym.

Live radio coverage can he heard on WANT FM-98.9 beginning with a 6:15 p.m. pregame show. The Lady Bears rode a strong performance from post player Ronjane DeGray, who finished with 21 points -- several of which came in the form of offensive putbacks.

Sally McCabe added 10 points for Mt. Juliet as Tyia Waller finished with five points and Raeyana DeGray had a bucket.

Wilson Central, now 8-9 overall / 4-3 in 9AAA, was led by 10 points from Rachel Bean and eight from Hannah Brewer. The Lady Wildcats will be on the road tonight for a District 9AAA contest at Hendersonville High School.

Lebanon 49, Portland 29
PORTLAND -- Lebanon Highs Devilettes stormed past Portland High 49-29 Wednesday evening in a game postponed from Tuesday, Jan. 15. LHS dashed to a 15-5 lead after one quarter, then moved ahead 25-10 at intermission.

Abby Wright led the way with 18 points and Morgan Bruce chipped in with 11. Scottlyn Elie, Julia Fox and Madison Sloan each had four points in the victory.

Lebanon, now 11-8 overall / 6-1 in 9AAA, will host Mt. Juliet High tonight in a 6:30 p.m. contest at Campbell Brandon Gym. Homecoming ceremonies are planned between games.

Ezell-Harding 62, MJ Christian 45
ANTIOCH -- Mt. Juliet Christian Academy had three players in double figures, but it wasnt enough as Ezell-Harding downed the Lady Saints 62-45 Wednesday evening.

MJ Christian, now 5-10 overall and 1-4 in Division II, District 1-A, was led by 16 points from Lynzee Ethridge, 12 from Lauren Wankel and 11 points from Shelby Leech.

MJCA hosts Trousdale County in a 6 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday, Jan. 22.

FCS at Clay Co. canceled
Fridays Friendship Christian at Clay County basketball doubleheader has been canceled at Clay Countys request due to a flu outbreak. The Commander teams will be on the road Saturday at Lancaster Christian Academy in Smyrna for a 6 p.m. twinbill.
