Juliet commissioners could have a parks and recreation director candidate to consider by next week, city officials said Tuesday, and the hiring process has been narrowed down to two people.Mt. Juliet City Manager Randy Robertson said Tuesday that the field of candidates to replace Dennis Buchanan as Mt. Juliet’s parks and recreation director has been narrowed from 24 to two people who have made it through the application process, including phone and face to face interviews. Robertson said representatives from PARTAS (Tennessee’s Parks and Recreation Technical Assistance Service) were set to interview those two candidates this morning between 9 and 11 a.m.Robertson said he assembled a consulting board to advise on the application process. The board included Bob DiSalvo, Shannon Kakuna, who is a member of the Mt. Juliet Parks and Recreation Board; Mt. Juliet Director of Public Works Marlin Keel; Asstistant Parks Director Rocky Lee, and Robertson.Robertson said he hoped to have a candidate who has accepted the City’s salary offer and agreement to the board of commissioners by the next City budget hearing, which is on June 14.Editor’s Note: Tomi L.
