Playoff formula altered
The TSSAA Board of Control adopted a new football playoff system during Monday’s regular meeting.
In the new system, the state's 32 largest schools would be considered 6A and would automatically be in the playoffs every year.
The remaining schools would be placed in five classes with the top four teams from every region making the playoffs.
By taking away the top 32, the disparity between the smallest and largest in one class is reduced.
Here are the tentative regions in the new system.

Class 1A
Region 4: Clay County, Gordonsville, MTCS, Monterey, Pickett County, Red Boiling Springs, Trousdale & Watertown.

Class 5A
Region 6: Beech, Gallatin, Hendersonville, Hillwood, Hunters Lane, Lebanon, & Station Camp.

Class 6A
Region 3: Antioch, Franklin, John Overton, McGavock, Mt. Juliet, Ravenwood & Wilson Central.
