Mt. Juliet has been selected to be the site of a new hub for FedEx, a project that could bring a large number of jobs to the area.
The 63.82-acre development would be located on the south side of Interstate 40 eastbound, near Beckwith Road.
The building is to be 303,369 square feet in size, and there will be 769 parking spaces for employees. The building and parking area will encompass 49.5 acres of the total site.
The developer, Tim Elam of Scanell Properties, said the project must go before Mt. Juliet's Planning Commission, set to meet Thursday, for approval.
Recently, Courtyard of Marriott officials announced plans to construct a hotel in Mt. Juliet in the Providence area.
Another company, Under Armour officials have indicated they are looking at Mt. Juliet, in addition to other locations in Georgia and South Carolina, for a large distribution facility.
