MJCA soccer plays in DII region

DONELSON -- Mt. Juliet Christian Academy’s soccer team split a pair of games Saturday, Oct. 12 in the D-II A Middle-East District Tournament at Donelson Christian Academy.
The Lady Saints of Coach Heather Anderson dropped Saturday morning’s opening round match by a 6-0 score to host DCA.
Keeper Olivia Gonzales had a busy game for Mt. Juliet Christian, turning back 10 shots.
The Lady Saints fared much better in Saturday afternoon’s consolation game, taking a hard-fought 5-3 win over Ezell-Harding.
Amanda Wall found the back of the net four times for the winners while Allison Mahabir added two more goals.
Mahabir assisted Wall twice while Kelsey Robbins, Courtney Wall and Marcella Gallione each had an assist.
Gonzales was solid in goal, finishing with 18 saves.
“This was a huge win,” Coach Anderson said, “we gave 100 percent for the entire match and never gave up. I’m please with the determination and drive the girls had.” 
MJCA will be back in action Thursday, Oct. 17 in the opening round of the D-II Region tournament.
