MJMS girls win TMSAA track title

CLARKSVILLE -- Emma Palmer and Jalyn Jenkins led the Mt. Juliet Middle School girl team to the inaugural Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association Track & Field State Championship Saturday, May 21 at Austin Peay State University's Fortera Stadium.

Palmer began the day with a third place finish in discus before winning the individual state title in shot.

Jenkins followed up later that evening with a second place finish in the 1600 meter run before capturing an individual title in the 800 meter run.

Ali Johnson placed fourth in the 100 meter hurdles, as well as being one leg of the fifth place 4x100 meter relay (with Abriah Burks, Neveah Majors and Aaliyah Brown) and the fifth place 4x200 meter relay (with Burks, Neveah Majors and Alivia Majors).

Jenkins, Caitlyn Selwyn, Lindsey Armstrong and Bryanna Coffman finished the night with a seventh place finish in the 4x400 meter relay.

The MJMS boys finished in seventh place.

Justin Greer had a seventh place finish in the discus before Reid Swoner placed third in shot.

Henry Griffin brought home a fifth place finish in the 400 meter dash and a second in the 800 meter run.

Tyler Stewart finished third in the 1600 meter run.
