Mt. Juliet Police are continuing an investigation into a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday that injured four people, three of them critically.

The accident happened at about 8:50 p.m. on Lebanon Road near the Mt. Juliet Little League ball fields. Officers upon arrival found three vehicles involved with the four persons injured. Wilson County Emergency Management Agency responded, also.

The initial investigation revealed a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling east on Lebanon Road and lost control and struck head-on a 2013 Ford Explorer that was headed west on Lebanon Road. A 2006 Mazda M3 rear-ended the Ford Explorer after the initial impact.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck was transported by LifeFlight helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition. The driver of the Ford Explorer and a passenger in the vehicle were transported to VUMC by WEMA ambulance, also in critical condition.

The driver of the Mazda M3 was treated and released by medical personnel on the scene.

Lebanon Road was closed for nearly two hours while the crash was investigated by the police department’s Accident Reconstructionist.

More information about the accident will be released once the investigation is completed, a spokesperson said.
