The first, Terry Dunn, 25, of Baxter, was caught as he waited outside in the parking lot with the getaway car. Two other suspects were apprehended as they attempted to leave Target. They were identified as Dustin Burgess, 26, and Karla Montgomery, 24, both of Cookeville.
Further investigation revealed reportedly stolen merchandise in the getaway vehicle valued at more than $600 that was taken from the Walmart in Hermitage earlier in the day, Chandler said.
The getaway car was also prepared for a quick exit with the keys in the ignition and trunk open, waiting for the stolen goods, he said, adding officers also reportedly located marijuana roaches on Dunns person.
The recovered items were returned to the proper stores.
Mt. Juliet Police detectives said they believe that the three have been involved in previous thefts at the Target in Mt. Juliet and other stores in the area. The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.
The three were arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail. Dunn is charged with
Theft of Property and Simple Possession Schedule VI. Burgess is charged with Theft of Property. Montgomery is also charged with Theft of Property.
