FORMER LADY BEAR GREAT

From Post staff reports
NASHVILLE -- Former Mt. Juliet High basketball standout and three-time NCAA All-American Alysha Clark was among the athletes honored Wednesday night as the Nashville Sports Council presented its annual Celebration of Champions at the Grand Ole Opry House.

She was named the winner of the Ed Temple Amateur Female Athlete of the Year. At Mt. Juliet High, Clark was a former TSSAA Class AAA Miss Basketball and was named Most Valuable Player of the 2005 state tournament -- won by her Lady Bears.

She completed her stellar two-year MTSU Blue Raider career as the nation's leading scorer both seasons, including a school-record 27.5 ppg a year ago.

She was tabbed as an All-American in 2009 and 2010, the only two-time selection in school history, and went on to become a second round pick of the San Antonio Silver Stars of the WNBA.

At Nashville’s Belmont University, Clark was twice named Atlantic Sun Player of the year and earned Player of the Week honors 10 times.

Clark is currently playing professional basketball overseas in Israel.
