MJ's Mitchner inks with Trevecca

MT. JULIET -- Helen Mitchner, a three-year starter at mid-state basketball power Mt. Juliet High, signed Friday with Nashville's Trevecca Nazarene University.

Mitchner, a 5-5 point guard, has helped the Lady Bears to a record of 84-13 over the past three seasons, two District 9AAA championships, and a trip the the TSSAA state tournament. She averaged over 6 points per game last season with 101 assists and 77 steals.

She played AAU basketball this past summer with Tennessee Flight Silver Nike and made it to the Final Four of the 17U Nike Nationals. She has a 3.79 GPA and plans to enter the Trevecca nursing program.
