Butch Wilmore

FCA banquet set Sept 10 --
NASA astronaut and Mt. Juliet High graduate Barry "Butch" Wilmore will be the featured speaker at the 2015 Wilson County Fellowship of Christian Athletes annual banquet.

The event is planned for 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 at Mt. Juliet's Victory Baptist Church, 1777 Tate Lane.

WKRN 2 Meteorologist and native Wilson Countian Lisa Patton will serve as emcee.

Wilmore who lived and worked nearly six months on the International Space Station and served as the Expedition 42 commander, has served in the U.S. Navy for 29 years and holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Tennessee Technological University; a Master of Science in Aviation Systems, University of Tennessee.

A former football standout at Mt. Juliet High School, Wilmore was a linebacker and team captain at Tennessee Tech where he set a record for tackles in a single season.

Wilmore has accumulated more than 6800 flight hours and 663 carrier landings, all in tactical jet aircraft.
