The District 8A tournament opens today at Crump Paris Park in South Carthage and finds Watertown High playing top-seeded Friendship Christian in a 7 p.m. game.
Watertown advanced to the double-elimination phase of the tournament with a 5-0 victory Friday over Red Boiling Springs.
Two loser-out games are on tap today in the District 9AAA tournament at Mt. Juliet High. The 5 p.m. game will feature Wilson Central playing Gallatin, followed by Station Camp vs. Hendersonville at 7 p.m.
WCHS (31-14) slipped into the losers' bracket with error-marred 8-6 home loss to Portland Friday. The Lady Wildcats led 4-1 after five innings, only to see Portland score a major upset.
Lebanon High, a 9-7 winner at Station Camp on Monday, will take on host Mt. Juliet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the semifinals of the winner's bracket.
LHS improved to 17-18-1 with the upset win over No. 2-seeded Station Camp -- scoring seven runs in the top of the second inning. Kristen Dedman had a three-run double for Lebanon.
Mt. Juliet (29-11-1) defeated Hendersonville 11-8 Friday in the tournament's opening round.
Lauren Woodard went five and two-thirds innings for the win, while ninth grader Savannah Sanders picked up the save with three strikeouts.
Ashton Stowe had three hits for the winners, three RBI and three runs scored. Brittney Graves added three hits and drove in two.
