Lebanon police arrested a 31-year-old Alexandria woman Friday night after three children were left unattended in a vehicle outside Jimmy's Bar and Grill on Sparta Pike.
Maria A. Cavalier was charged with child neglect and abuse as well as public intoxication as a result of the incident. LPD reported the children - ages six, five and 10 months - were medically evaluated by Wilson Emergency Management Agency personnel and appeared in good health. The children were released to their father by the Tennessee Department of Children's Services.
Upon responding to the call of unattended children in the vehicle just after 10:30 p.m., a Lebanon police officer located Cavalier just outside the bar, talking on her cell phone. According to a release issued by the LPD, the officer interviewed Cavalier, who displayed signs of being impaired, and she admitted to leaving the children in the vehicle, unattended, while she was inside the bar. She also admitted to drinking alcohol while inside the bar, the release stated.
