Both the Cumberland baseball and softball teams will face Georgetown College in the opening game of the Mid-South Conference Championships later this week in Bowling Green, Ky.
Bulldog baseball faces the Tigers at Noon Central Time on Wednesday at Bowling Green Ballpark in the second game of the day. Georgetown and Cumberland are the Nos. 4 and 5 seeds, respectively, in the field of eight teams.
The two teams played this past weekend in Lebanon, with the Tigers sweeping a doubleheader on Friday, 6-4 and 4-1, before the Bulldogs won the final game of the series, 8-5 on Saturday.
Cumberland softball and Georgetown play at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Michael O. Buchanon Park. The Tigers enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed and face the sixth-seeded Bulldogs in the opening game.
The two teams split four games at Georgetown three weeks ago, with CU winning the first game of both doubleheaders, 9-4 and 12-6, before dropping the second games to the Tigers, 8-6 and 10-5.
