Each day in Wilson County, 911 call takers and dispatchers receive hundreds of calls requesting assistance with emergencies occurring within our county.

These dedicated professionals work side-by-side with the more visible components of Public Safety, including law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel and others to provide prompt emergency services 24/7/365.

Although rarely acknowledged, because they are not physically at the scene, these “hearts behind the voices” serve as vital links to emergency services within our cities and throughout our county. They provide an invaluable service in emergency situations and deserve our heartfelt appreciation.

Therefore, the United States Congress has designated the second week in April to honor public safety telecommunication professionals throughout the United States for their role in providing emergency assistance to those in need.

This year, the week of April 11-17 is designated “National Public Safety Telecommunicator’s Week.”

Thanks you, Wilson County 911 call takers and dispatchers, for all you do.
