Dear Ken: Is it true that Johnny Depp is going to star in a new movie about the Lone Ranger?
You betcha, Kemo Sabe. However, Depp will portray not the masked man himself but his Indian sidekick, Tonto. No word yet on who will be the Lone Ranger. Depp has wrapped up work as Capt. Jack Sparrow on “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” which is set for a 2011 release. He kicks off the new year before the cameras as vampire Barnabas Collins in a big-screen adaptation of “Dark Shadows,” then later saddles up as Tonto.
Dear Ken: Where is Mandy Moore, who did the voice of Rapunzel in the animated movie “Tangled,” from? How old is she?
Moore, 26, was born in Nashua, N.H., but grew up in Orlando, Fla., where she became known as “the National Anthem girl,” because she sang the song at so many athletic events. Married to Ryan Adams, Moore has appeared in several episode of “Gray‘s Anatomy” and been in the movies “A Walk To Remember,” “Saved!”, “Swinging With the Finkels” and “Love, Wedding, Marriage.” The singer-songwriter, who toured with the Backstreet Boys as a teenager, has sold more than 10 million records.
Dear Ken: Give us some information on Seth Rogen, star of the new “Green Hornet” movie.
Rogen, 28, hails from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and began his career in his early teens as a stand-up comedian. Ten years ago he starred in the TV series “Freaks and Geeks.” He wrote the screenplays for “The Green Hornet,” “Pineapple Express” and “Superbad.” His movie credits include “Donnie Darko,” “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” You, Me and Dupree,” “Pineapple Express” and “Funny People.” He is nuts about TV’s “The Simpsons” and was a guest voice last year.
