Eddie McDaniels, a 2014 Lebanon High graduate who earned 10 varsity letters for the Blue Devils, has verbally committed to finish up his baseball career at NAIA Harris-Stowe State University, located in St. Louis, MO.

A member of the American Midwest Conference along with Freed-Hardeman, Lyon College and Missouri Baptist, the Hornets went 30-18 last season under second-year head coach C.J. Bilbrey.

Cumberland baseball has added a Hitting Camp for July 5-7 from 9 a.m.-Noon for ages 6-12 at Ernest L. Stockton Field-Woody Hunt Stadium.

Former standout quarterback -
Cumberland University football coach Donnie Suber announced the addition of former CU player Broc Loveless this week as a graduate assistant for the 2017 season.

Loveless returns to his alma mater after spending two seasons at Division III Milliken University in Decatur, Ill., working with defensive backs in 2015 and wide receivers in 2016. He served as the team's video coordinator and assistant recruiting coordinator during his time with the Big Blue.

Five former Wilson County baseball standouts will have one more opportunity to wear their school colors Thursday in the sixth annual MidTN Senior All-Star Classic is planned for Vanderbilt University's Hawkins Field.

Sponsored by Warner Athletic Construction and Top Tenn Baseball, the event had been staged at Cumberland University's Ernest L. Stockton Field since its beginnings, but the ability to play on an artificial surface presented organizer Davey Cothran with an opportunity that was almost too good to pass up.

Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes --
Cumberland baseball players Taylor Dorsey, Joseph Midgett and Sam Eichler were named 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, as announced late last week during the Avista NAIA-World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.

Student-athletes must be a junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.50 grade-point-average and above to be eligible for the award.

Jerry Bell, pitching coach for Lebanon High baseball and a former major leaguer, will be inducted into the DuPont High Sports Hall of Fame in ceremonies planned Saturday, Aug. 5 at the Old Hickory Country Club.

Bell is a 1965 graduate of DuPont High where he was named "All-City" in both baseball and basketball.

MURFREESBORO -- The King's Academy utilized a 17-hit attack to score early and often in Friday's 13-4 victory over Friendship Christian in the finals of the Division II-A state tournament at the StarPlex.

TKA made it a clean sweep of the Lady Commanders in 2017, winning both regular season games and knocking off their rivals twice in the state tournament.

MURFREESBORO -- Mt. Juliet High's Cole Shea recorded a 14-6 effort in the pole vault Thursday, May 25 at Middle Tennessee State's Dean A. Hayes Stadium to win the Class AAA state championship with relative ease.

Shea, a junior, finished six inches ahead of a pair of Brentwood High vaulters -- Jett Kinder and Garrett Lee -- both of whom topped out at 14-0.

Lebanon High baseball standout Nick Sanders signed scholarship papers Thursday, May 25 with Lindsey Wilson College, an NAIA institution in Columbia, KY.

Sanders, a four-year starter at shortstop for the Blue Devils, hit .427 with 10 doubles as a senior with six triples and two homers while driving in 36 runs.
