WATERTOWN -- Five individuals have been elected into the inaugural class of the Watertown High Hall of Fame.

Inductees include: Ricky Baker, Jill Gwaltney, Virginia Ann Huddleston, Coach Brownie Robinson and Olivia Seay.

A Saturday, Nov. 5 dinner and induction ceremony has been planned.

    LEBANON -- A rough and tumble District 9-AAA battle resulted in a 2-1 win form homestanding Lebanon Thursday over rival Wilson Central.
    Red cards set two Lebanon players and one from WCHS to the sideline during the hotly-contested match.
    Olivia Powered scored for LHS in the 33rd minute off an assist from Danielle Redmond as the Lady Devils took a 1-0 lead.

    Phoenix hosts Shawnee St. Sept. 24
    Cumberland moved up nine spots to No. 16 in the first regular season edition of the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 poll, released this week by the national office.
    The Phoenix head into Saturday's 12 Noon home match against Shawnee State with a 5-1-1 overall record, posting a victory over then 16th-ranked Siena Heights University and playing to a 1-1 draw with then No. 8 Martin Methodist.

    NASHVILLE -- Ally Cole scored a hat trick and Britt Ellmore added two more scored as Mt. Juliet recorded a 7-1 soccer win at John Overton High Monday.
    Brooklyn Butler and Jenna Rehm each added goals for the Lady Bears.
    Assists went to Summer Ellmore and Britt Ellmore.
    Goalkeeper Hailey Walker was credited with three saves.

    Special teams player of the Week
    Cumberland University's Matthew Alter earned Mid-South Conference West Division Special Teams Player of the Week honors on Monday after booting the game-winning 28-yard field goal in the fourth quarter of CU's 17-14 victory over the University of the Cumberlands.

    The Montgomery, Ala., native missed from 24 yards in the third period, hitting the right upright after a high snap on the play.

PIKEVILLE, KY --Savannah Moreland scored three times, twice in the second half, and Maria Brenes added two assists in 25th-ranked Cumberland's 5-0 victory over the University of Pikeville Monday afternoon.

Moreland scored in the ninth minute of the match on an assist from Rebecca Holloway and twice more in the first 10 minutes of the second half, as the Phoenix (5-1-1, 1-0-0 Mid-South) opened conference play with the victory.

LHS boys finish 2nd out of 21 teams
DICKSON -- Lebanon High's Caleb Kawasaki clocked a 16:44 Saturday to claim first place honors in the Sept. 17 running of the Dickson Invitational held at Buckner City Park.

All told, three Blue Devils placed in the top 20 -- pushing LHS to a second place overall finish out of 21 teams and 165 runners.

NASHVILLE -- Mt. Juliet Christian Academy took a 14-7 lead into intermission and tacked on an insurance score in the second half of Friday's 21-7 victory over Franklin Road Academy at the George A. Volkert Athletic Complex.
The win ruined FRA's homecoming and vaulted the Saints to a record of 4-1 -- equaling the high water mark in wins in the 16-year history of the program.
Quarterback Alex Pitman blistered the Panthers for 145 yards rushing on just five carries. He scored TDs on runs of 98 and 13 yards.

NASHVILLE -- Mt. Juliet Christian Academy defeated Pearl-Cohn 5-0 Thursday at the Ted Rhodes Soccer Complex.
The Lady Saints led 3-0 at intermission and never looked back on goals from Marcella Gallione, Kinsley Barga and eighth grader Mallie Foutch.
Second half goals came from Aspen Lewis and Kortney Robbins.
Assists were credited to: Abigail Eastin, Gallione, Carly Keith, Nicole Froome and Mallie Foutch.
MJCA goalkeeper Abi Hildabrand recorded seven saves.

Lebanon's Kawasaki wins Beech Invite
SHACKLE ISLAND -- Lebanon High junior Caleb Kawasaki brought home first place honors Saturday in the Beech Invitational Cross Country Meet -- hosted by Beech High School.
Kawasaki finished the course in a time of 16:56. Along with an eighth place finish by Ethan Njezic, who ran an 18:10, the Blue Devils placed two runners in the top ten -- good enough to earn second place behind meet winner Franklin High.
Two LHS runners broke into the top 20 as Jacob Andrews placed 16th with a time of 18:41 and Noah Chance finished 17th at 18:42.

FCS downs Davidson Academy
NASHVILLE -- Friendship Christian's volleyball team improved to 13-8 on the season following Monday's 3-1 victory at Davidson Academy.
Game scores: 25-9, 25-20, 24-26 and 25-20.
Alycia Long led the attack with 12 kills and four blocks while Bayley West contributed 11 kills, a pair of service aces and a block.
Morgan Vallett chipped in with 11 kills, six digs and three aces.
Cameron Burton finished with 24 assists and 10 digs. Libby Nave recorded 22 digs, four assits and a block; Kendall Tipton had nine kills, two digs and a block.
FCS hosts a pair of matches this week at the Bay Family Sportsplex -- taking on St. Cecilia Academy Wednesday, Sept. 14 and Battle Ground Academy Thursday, Sept. 15.

Autumn Copeland netted a pair of goals and Katherine Hassell added a goal and two assists, as 25th-ranked Cumberland scored four times in the second half in a 4-0 victory over Asbury University in women's soccer action here Friday at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.

The Phoenix (4-1-0) created several scoring chances in the first half but were unable to put any away and the second period started the same way, with the Eagles' (4-1-0) defense clearing point-blank shots from Rebecca Holloway and Emily Shires off the goal line just after intermission.

GLADEVILLE -- Winless Siegel put up quite a fight, but Wilson Central remained undefeated by gutting out a 23-17 victory over the Stars Friday at Wildcat Stadium.
Wilson Central (4-0) led 10-0 after one period and 17-7 at intermission, only to see the Stars put up 10 third quarter points -- cutting the margin to 20-17 headed into the final 12 minutes.

LEBANON -- Friendship Christian School seventh grader Hope Elias won an unprecedented fourth consecutive Sherry's Run 5K Saturday morning.

Ilias, 12, was scheduled to participate in a middle school invitation meet later in the morning at Cedars of Lebanon State Park, and has now won four straight in the women's division.

WCHS hosts Siegel
Wilson Central will look to build on early season momentum when Murfreesboro Siegel visits Wildcat Stadium tonight for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
Coach Brad Dedman's club stands an impressive 3-0 on the season and has averaged a shade over 40 points per contest.
The Wildcats return home following a 38-7 victory at Antioch a week ago.
Siegel has struggled so far, standing 0-3 following last week's 49-7 loss to Oakland.

PREP VOLLEYBALL - Sept. 6 updates

Lady Bears win at SCHS
GALLATIN -- Mt. Juliet improved to 13-2 overall and 5-2 in District 9-AAA with a 3-2 victory over Station Camp Tuesday. Game scores: 25-20, 25-17, 19-25, 22-25 and 15-9.
Tavie Bell led the Lady Bears with 17 kills, eight blocks and three service aces. Amber Ehrhart recorded 28 assists while SaraGrace Wilson finished with 18 digs.
Mt. Juliet will be back in action Tuesday, Sept. 13 hosting Gallatin.

LEBANON -- A sudden death playoff added a little drama to the sixth annual Wilson County Challenge Cup golf tournament held Tuesday, Sept. 6 at Lebanon's Five Oaks Golf & Country Club. Wilson Bank & Trust and Under Armour were tournament sponsors.

Mt. Juliet's girls needed two extra holes to break a tie at 180 with White House Heritage, giving MJHS a sweep of the team competition.

Murombo leads Labor Day victory
LEBANON -- Valentine Murombo picked up a deflection in the box and buried it 41 seconds into overtime, giving 19th-ranked Cumberland a 3-2 victory over Keiser University in men's soccer Monday afternoon at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.

Cumberland led 1-0 and 2-1, but Reece Weldon tied the match twice for the Seahawks, converting a penalty kick in the 53rd minute and drilling a free kick from 35 yards in the 76th minute.

Nave's career mark stood at 1,356 -- breaking the previous record of 1,347 held by Kaitlyn Teeter.
