Wilson Habitat for Humanity will host its annual Houses of Hope Luncheon on Wednesday, April 5, at the Capitol Theatre in Lebanon, and WSMV News Anchor Demetria Kalodimos is scheduled to serve as this year's guest speaker.

Registration for the luncheon opens at 11:30 a.m., and the program begins at noon, according to Tory Tredway, director of Wilson Habitat for Humanity.

The annual fundraiser luncheon offers a chance to learn more about what Habitat for Humanity does in Wilson County. To date, Wilson Habitat has built 69 houses for local low-income families who pay an interest-free mortgage after attending homeownership classes and working on the build site to earn the opportunity to own a home. Homeownership provides much needed stability for many of these families, and the Habitat program is designed to empower its homeowners for future success.

"Our Houses of Hope Luncheon is a unique opportunity for guests to see and hear firsthand about the impact that Habitat is making in our community as we serve local families," Tredway said. "It's a power-packed hour. We invite guests to join us for a delicious lunch and a memorable experience."

The Houses of Hope program will feature current and future homeowners who will talk about the impact of owning a home. Three community awards will be presented to local individuals and organizations who have supported affordable homeownership in the community: Spirit of Volunteerism, Spirit of Habitat and Community Partnership Award.
