Walker indicted on theft from Gladeville Utility |

From Post staff reports The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has arrested the former general manager of the Gladeville Water Utility District after he was indicted Wednesday by the Wilson County Grand Jury on numerous counts of theft for stealing from the utility company in 2007. William Clifford Walker, 57, 208 Burgess Road, Mt. Juliet, TN was charged with two counts of Theft Over $60,000, eight counts of Theft Over $10,000 and one count of Official Misconduct. |

MTEMC plans outages July 21 in Lebanon |

Middle Tennessee Electric crews will be working to improve electric service in Lebanon July 21, which will require outages in parts of the city. The scheduled work will require about 200 residences to be without power. The scheduled times for the outages are set to begin at 8 a.m. and last until approximately 12 p.m. |

Will LHS plays games in park with guns? |

By SAM HATCHER The Wilson Post Members of the Lebanon City Council have not formally adopted a position on the new “guns in parks” law passed by the state legislature although there appears to be considerable support among council members to not exercise its right to option out of the law. Councilors Kathy Warmath and William Farmer both indicated that they would not want the city to option out of the law, while Alex Buhler said he’s still undecided. |

Local Guard unit to go again |

By BEN DUDLEY The Wilson Post The National Guard Armory in Lebanon has been busier than usual as they received the order to mobilize the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, the state’s largest National Guard unit. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates signed the mobilization order and it was announced on Monday of this week. The 278th is made up of over 3,000 soldiers across the state, with nearly 200 stationed in Lebanon. |

Mayor: Stormwater fees could save 15 jobs |

By BEN DUDLEY The Wilson Post The Lebanon city budget for fiscal year 2009-10 is set to be voted on during the city council’s August 4 meeting. The council is planning on abolishing 37 city positions, 27 that are currently manned with the other ten empty, in order to gain funding necessary to balance the budget. |
