The popular Notes for Nurses fund-raiser for Cumberland University's Rudy School of Nursing and Health Professions is set for Saturday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. at the Lebanon Municipal Airport.

The casual event will be filled with live music from some of Nashville's best songwriters, dinner and live and silent auctions.

Performing songwriters will be Brennin Hunt, Stephanie Urbina Jones and Jess Leary. Earlier this year, Hunt was named by Rolling Stone as one of the "10 New Country Artists You Need to Know." His latest cut is Vince Gill's "I Can't Do This." Leary's hits include "Where the Green Grass Grows" by Tim McGraw, "Mi Vida Loca" by Pam Tillis and "I Won't Give Up" by Jana Kramer. Jones is a hit songwriter who wrote Craig Wayne Boyd's No. 1 Billboard single, "My Baby's Got A Smile On Her Face," and was the first independent female artist to go to No. 1 on the Texas music charts.

General admission seats are $50; Cumberland University alumni seats are $30; a table sponsorship is $500; and a VIP table sponsorship is $750. Dinner will be catered by Blue Moon BBQ, and there will also be a cash bar.

More than 400 people attended last year's event where $58,000 was raised for simulation equipment and scholarship support. The first two recipients of the Nursing Advisory Council Scholarship with funds raised from Notes for Nurses were recently named. Hannah Prill and Morgan Carr are second degree-seeking students in their first semester of the upper-level nursing program

"The funds raised from the Notes for Nurses events have enabled us to enhance the student clinical experiences by exposing them to things they may never see when working on live patients. All students in the school have the opportunity to work with simulation. This year we have another fantastic group of artists joining us for the Notes for Nurses event at the Lebanon Airport. Please join us for our fund-raiser for more simulation equipment and student scholarships," said Carole Ann Bach, dean of the Rudy School of Nursing and Health Professions.

Beth McCall, R.N., B.S.N., is the event's founder and continues to chair the event for 2016. Sponsors include D.T. McCall and Sons; Serenity Dental; Direct Flight Solutions LLC; Tennova Healthcare; Powell and Meadows Insurance Agency; The Family of Dr. Joe F. Bryant; TN Media and WANT-FM.
