WATERTOWN -- Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, August 12 at the Hunter Funeral Home for Mr. Williams, 75, of Watertown.

Born January 30, 19334 in Smith County, the former heavy equipment operator died Aug. 9, 2009 at the Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Atnip with burial at the Jones Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include: wife Norma Geraldine Williams of Watertown and children Ricky Williams of Murfreesboro, Vicki Hughes of Madison and Janice Timbs of Lebanon. Also surviving are grandchildren Amanda Deakins and Tabitha Holland along with great grandchildren Kayleigh and Jordan Deakins and Aundrea Huddleston.

Family and friends served as pallbearers. He is preceded in death by parents James and Mattie Lena Bennett Williams. Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MURFREESBORO -- A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Friday, August 14 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home, 820 S. College Street, for Mr. Hallum, 76, a Wilson County native.

A US Navy aviator and one of the first certified financial planners in the country, Mr. Hallum died Aug. 7, 2009 of cancer at his Murfreesboro residence.

Born March 21, 1933 in Lebanon, he graduated from Lebanon High School. A gifted football player, he attended the University of Kentucky, playing football under Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. After a four-year stint in the Air Force that included playing football in military leagues in Bermuda and England, Mr. Hallum returned to the U.S., and entered Middle Tennessee State University.

He was a two-year starter at quarterback for the Blue Raiders before graduating in 1959. He entered the U.S. Navy after graduation, spending eight years as a Naval Aviator.

After completing his service in the Navy, he moved his family to Atlanta and started his business career, earning his Certified Life Underwriter designation and working as a pension consultant with Travelers Life Insurance Co. and Investor Diversified Services, Inc.

Mr. Hallum became one of the first Certified Financial Planners in the U.S. in 1972 and formed Hallum & McGovern, Inc. one of the first-fee based financial planning firms in the country, serving clients all over the U.S. After retiring, he moved to back to Tennessee. He came out of retirement and finished his career working in real estate development in Murfreesboro.

Visitation with the family will be from 2-4 p.m. Friday at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home.

Survivors include: his mother Cassie Hallum of Lebanon, his wife of 31 years Betty Osteen Hallum of Murfreesboro, and children Cheryl (Dan) Hart of Conyers, GA, Kimberly (Daniel) Rascoe of Woodstock, GA and Mike (Cynthia) Hallum of the Wheel Community in Bedford County.

Also surviving are siblings: Rachel (Charlie) Edwards Raymond (Julia) Hallum -- all of Lebanon, Joe (Chris) Hallum of Brentwood and Charles (Edna) Hallum of Huntsville; grandchildren Danielle (Josh) Barnes of Conyers GA, Ensign Charlie Hallum of Corpus Christi, TX, Midshipman Bobby Hallum of Annapolis, MD, Kate and Olivia Rascoe of Woodstock, GA and Bill and Sarah Beth Hallum of Wheel.

He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Hallum of Lebanon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to MTSU Blue Raider Athletic Association in memoriam to Robert E. "Bob" Hallum, P.O. Box 109, Murfreesboro, 37132.

LEBANON — Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, August 10 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Oliver, 88, of Lebanon.

The widow of the late James A. Oliver, Mrs. Oliver died Aug. 7, 2009 at the University Medical Center. She was a member of the Pompano Beach (FL) Baptist Church.

Visitation Monday from 1 p.m. until the funeral. Services will be conducted by Brother Danny Sellars and Rev. Don McElroy. Burial will be at the Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include: children Jean (T.A.) Bryan, Wayne (Mary) Oliver and Stan (Patti) Oliver. Also surviving are grandchildren Tommy A. (Bobbie Kay) Bryan, Robert "Tick" (Sandra) Bryan, John (Kim) Bryan, Beth (Michael) Bradshaw, James Albert Oliver II, Brandi (Theodore) Milbert; great grandchildren Taylor and Thomas Bryan, Steve Bryan, Megan, Mallory and John Ross Bryan, Eric Bradshaw, Lauren and Jared Bradshaw; five step-grandchildren; brothers Robert (Frances) Spencer and Thomas (Janice) Spencer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband James A. Oliver; and son James "Jimmy" A. Oliver Jr.

Grandsons & great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Gideons International, P.O. Box 591, Lebanon, 37088-0591.

LEBANON – Mr. Harlan, 64, of Lebanon passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at his residence. He was a Smith County High School graduate and was retired from TRW with 41 years of service.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Aug. 8 between the hours of 2 – 8 p.m. at the Partlow Funeral Chapel.

Survivors include: his wife Cynthia Harlan; children Raymond (Lorrie) Harlan and Gina (Scott) Elmore; step-sons Tony Jewell of Westmoreland & Kelly Wayne Jewell of Illinois. Also surviving is sister Mary Ann Bennett; grandchildren Leslie Elmore, Aaron Elmore and John Thomas Harlan; great granddaughter Kendall Dies; special niece and nephew Sherry (Eddie) Fitzpatrick and Kenneth Bennett.

He is preceded in death by parents Lucy and John Harlan Jr.

LEBANON – Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, August 8 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church for Mrs. Myres, 87, formerly of Lebanon.

Retired from Clover Bottom Development Center where she worked as a nurses’ aid, Mrs. Myres died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009 at her Millersville residence

A native of Wilson County, she was born April 29, 1922 to the later Will and Corrie Virginia Watson Bingham. Mrs. Myres was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Friday between the hours of 4-8 p.m. at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service at the church. Services will be conducted by Brother Bob Curtis. Interment at the Wilson County Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include: son Donald (Fay) Sager of Millersville and grandson Tom Sager of Dallas, TX.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Myres is preceded in death by husband Jim Myres; grandson Brad Sager; siblings Mildred Cripps, Sophia Mosley, Grace Brown, Corrie Corley and Houston Bingham.

Pallbearers: Raymond Lane Jr., Greg Hibdon, Larry Carter, Roy Martin, Tom Sager and Anthoy Hopkins. Honorary: J.S. Brown, Johnny Cripps, Jim and Jerry Brownlee.
