OLD HICKORY – Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, July 30 at the Hermitage Funeral Home, 535 Shute Lane, for Mrs. Pewitt, 68, of Mt. Juliet. She died July 26, 2009.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 29 between the hours of 4-8 p.m. and Thursday, 12-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by Pastor Sten Criscoe. Interment will be at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years Wayne Pewitt; sons Tommy (Leslie) Pewitt and Michael (Donna) Pewitt. Also surviving are grandchildren Trey Pewitt, Matthew Pewitt, Katelyn Pewitt and Amanda Pewitt; siblings Mary Lou Raines and Thomas Goad; mother-in-law Grace Halmontaller; sister-in-law Shirley (James) Scott; brother-in-law Cris Ashworth; as well as several nieces and nephews; along with special friends J.T. and Martha Baker.

Mrs. Pewitt is preceded in death by infant daughter Rosie Christine Pewitt; parents Willie and Rosie Goad; brother Donnie Goad; father-in-law Thomas "Jeff" Pewitt; stepmother-in-law Erma Pewitt and sister-in-law Sarah "Sally" Ashworth.

Active pallbearers: family and friends. Honorary pallbearers: friends at American Airlines Ground Service. Memorial donations may be made to Alive Hospice at St. Thomas in Nashville.

NASHVILLE – Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 at the Woodbine Funeral Home, 5852 Nolensville Road, for Mr. Bowers, 46, of Mt. Juliet.

An employee of Nashville Electric Service, he died July 25, 2009 while on his way to a Fly-In at Oshkosh, WI. He was an accomplished pilot, scuba and sky diver, Harley Davidson rider, cyclist, and an all-around avid outdoorsman.

Services will be conducted by Pastor Sandy Shawhan. Interment will follow in the Nolensville Cemetery.

Survivors include: his wife Viviane Bowers and daughter Carol. Also surviving are siblings Dru and Thomas Bowers and sister Deborah Brittain-Walter; niece Kiera Walter; nephews Jace Walter, Ian Brittain, Blake and Austin Bowers, and Reid and Alex Bowers.

Mr. Bowers is preceded in death by his father and mother James Thomas and Dorothy Stephens Bowers, and his nephew Leif Alexander Brittain.

Brothers and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be directed to his nephew’s charity - Leifland (
www.leifland.org).

LEBANON – A memorial service will be held at a later date for Mr. Fuller, 97, of Lebanon. A US Army veteran of World War II and a retired truck driver, he died July 25,

Survivors include daughter: June (Jasper) Simmons of Lebanon; brother Gray Fuller of Hendersonville; grandchildren Michael Simmons and Wayne Simmons — both of Lebanon; and great-grandchildren Makayla Simmons and Austin Simmons.

He is preceded in death by wife Pauline Dixon Fuller and parents Joe Taylor and Bertie Munday Fuller.

LEBANON – Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, July 28 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel for Mr. Carson, 62, of Lebanon. A mechanic and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, he died Saturday July 25, 2009 at the Centennial Medical Center.

Services were conducted by Brother Floyd Farris with interment at the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Survivors include: children Randy Carson of Portland, Lisa Carson Snider and Tina (Drew) Angle — both of Lebanon. Also surviving is sister Teresa (Steve) Hammonds of Georgia; grandchildren Tyler McDaniel, Danielle Angle, Madison Angle, Devin Carson and Abbie Carson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents Homer Gray and Mary Edna Petty Carson and grandson Jacob Carson. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

LEBANON — Funeral services were held Saturday morning, July 25 at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home for Miss Eskew, 94, of Lebanon.

A former librarian and teacher in for over 40 years in Davidson and Wilson Counties, she died July 23, 2009 at Cedars Health Care.

Born September 20, 1914, in Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late John William Eskew Sr. and Fruzie Northern Eskew.  Miss Eskew was a graduate of Cumberland University and a member of the College Hills Church of Christ. 

Services were conducted by Dr. Larry Locke with burial at the Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include: sister Helen Major of Lebanon and brother Bob Eskew of Donelson.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Frances Eskew, Edna Eskew and Tish Howard; and brothers John William Eskew Jr. and Thomas Eskew.

Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
