LEBANON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Ollie Williams Purnell were held Tuesday afternoon, August 12 at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home.
Mrs. Purnell, age 92 of Lebanon passed away Saturday, August 9, 2008, at the University Medical Center.
Born September 1, 1915, in the LaGuardo Community of Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Walter James and Louise Prowell Williams. In 1937, she and her late husband, Oscar Allen Purnell, moved to Michigan and lived for 33 years, returning back to LaGuardo in 1970.
She was a homemaker and a member of the LaGuardo Baptist Church. Services were conducted by Rev. Carl N. Price and Dan Stewart. Interment followed in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
She is survived by children Richard Purnell of Troy, Michigan and Sandra (Stephen Adams) Purnell of Enterprise, Oregon.
Also surviving are grandsons Daniel Purnell of Falls Church, Virginia; Michael Purnell of Troy, Michigan; and Thomas Purnell-Fisher of Amsterdam, The Netherlands; former daughter in law Nadia Purnell of Beverly Hills, Michigan; special niece Janette (Ernest) Tatum and special nephew Dan (Bettye) Stewart; and sister in law Melba Williams -- all of Lebanon; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, J. D. Williams and Albert Ray Williams, and a sister, Janie Sue Stewart.
