One person remains hospitalized after a hit-and-run accident Wednesday night on Hill Street in Lebanon. The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. as two women, Suanne Bone and Melanie Long, were walking eastbound on Hill Street when they were struck from behind from a vehicle also traveling eastbound on the roadway.
Bone is the niece of State Rep. Stratton Bone. Long is the owner of The White Room, a wedding and formal dress shop on South Cumberland Street. Both women were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Long was reportedly released from the hospital Thursday, suffering a broken nose in the accident.
Bone sustained more serious injuries including a broken shoulder, ribs, pelvis and leg. One of Bone’s shoes and her jacket was reportedly found by a family member near the back entrance to Hearthside, a retirement home.
According to earlier reports, the driver apparently left his vehicle at his home on Hill Street where he resides and left on foot, however, a source told The Wilson Post that authorities have located the driver and placed him under arrest.
