MJCA at home; FCS on the road
Wilson County's four public schools are taking tonight off with scheduled open dates -- but Division II programs Mt. Juliet Christian Academy and Friendship Christian School will be in action.
The Saints of MJCA (1-6, 0-2) will be at home this evening, taking on The King's Academy. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Suey Field.
Coach Dan Davis' team has enjoyed practice a little more this week following last Friday's 36-0 home win over Pickett County.
The victory was the first of the season for MJCA and the first as a head coach for Davis.
In fact, the win broke a seven-game losing streak dating back to the final contest of the 2013 season.
The King's Academy, based in Seymour, comes in 4-2 overall / 1-2 in the East-Middle District of Division II-A.
The Lions have won two in a row, a 44-8 decision at Union County last week and a 34-14 victory over Ezell Harding Oct. 3.
Friendship Christian at Donelson Christian
Coach John McNeal's Commanders travel down Highway 70 tonight for a 7 p.m. encounter with East-Middle District rival Donelson Christian Academy. Kickoff at Ken Redmond Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
Both teams come in with identical district records of 2-1 and overall marks of 6-1.
Hanging in the balance is a first round home game in the TSSAA playoffs for tonight's winner.
DCA was idle last week after taking a 42-3 loss at Knoxville Webb back on Oct. 3.
Friendship Christian School has reeled off three consecutive victories, including a 28-21 win over Davidson Academy last Friday, since a 35-14 loss to Knox Webb on Sept. 26.
FCS has won each of the past two seasons against the Wildcats -- a wild 52-49 victory last year and a lopsided 41-7 decision back in 2012.
