LEBANON -- Thirty-five year old Julio Cervantes clocked a time of 18:25 Saturday morning to win the sixth annual Sherry’s Run 5K. The overall women’s winner was 29-year old Katherine Kopinski who finished the course in 21:04.

Jeff Brown, 45, was the male masters winner at 20:33 while 40-year old Amy Breedlove was the female masters winner with a time of 23:30.

An all-time record of over 3,100 runners, walkers and supporters flocked to Sherry’s Run to support Wilson County’s largest grassroots cancer fundraising effort.

Over $150,000 was raised with donations still being accepted to help those who are suffering with cancer here in the county.

"We owe the success of this event to everyone who participated. With their commitment and support we are truly making a significant difference in the lives of local cancer patients," said Gary Whitaker, Sherry’s Run board member.

"We salute all of our sponsorship partners, participants and volunteers with our heartfelt thanks for your generosity toward our cause. We are so proud of the work done by Sherry’s Run and feel that if we can help one person in the whole world it will be worth it; because, one person is the whole world to somebody."
