Lebanon Nationals will play Texas
After seeing a whirlwind fundraising effort reach a goal of $20,000, the Lebanon Youth Baseball Dixie Nationals are on their way to Laurel, MS -- site of the 2016 Dixie Youth Ozone World Series.
The 11-12 year-old LYB squad will take on the Texas state champions Saturday, Aug. 6 at 5:45 p.m. in the opening round.
The winner of the Tennessee v. Texas game will advance to Sunday's 8 p.m. against either Arkansas or Virginia.
"I can't say 'thank you' enough to the folks who organized and participated in these fundraising events," said team manager Kevin Gaines.
"It's pretty overwhelming to see the support our community gave to these boys."
The Nationals knocked off Madison South (Jackson) 10-7 in the state finals July 20 -- completing a 6-0 run through the state tourney -- outscoring their opponents 60-20.
