To accommodate a series of new patriotic opening activities, Oktoberfest at Wilson Bank & Trust will get off to an earlier-than-usual start this Saturday morning.

The public is invited to arrive at Oktoberfest early this year for a flag retirement ceremony beginning at 7:30 a.m. The ceremony, part of a special kickoff to the bank’s annual fall event, will incorporate a performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” and the landing of a Blackhawk helicopter.  The Blackhawk, along with other military and emergency vehicles, will also be on display for viewing inside and out throughout the rest of the day on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Oktoberfest will take place on the grounds of Wilson Bank & Trust’s Main office at 623 West Main Street in Lebanon. The weekend of family fun also features a new children’s talent show.  Carrying over from last year and years past at Oktoberfest will be an enlarged space for children’s attractions, electronic gaming, an indoor arts and culture center, an antique car show, live music, more than 160 vendors and demonstrators, free health screenings, quilt and craft shows, a tractor show, a photography contest and a variety of concession options.

Saturday hours for Oktoberfest last until 4 p.m. Sunday hours are from noon to 4 p.m. More information about Oktoberfest and related contests is available online at or by calling 444-BANK (2265).
