Representatives with Empower Me Center were recently notified the Lebanon-based non-profit has been awarded a 2017 PeyBack Foundation grant in the amount of $15,000 for Empower Me's recreational program and day camp.
Empower Me Center will use the funds to purchase recreational equipment for their Summer Day Camp and other recreational leagues to be implemented once their facilities have been built.
"We are so grateful to the Manning family for establishing this foundation that is making a difference in children's lives. We are blessed to be a recipient of this grant to purchase specialized adaptive recreational equipment that will meet the needs of a variety of different types of disabilities," Empower Me Executive Director Michelle Hill said. "People don't realize how you must adapt various recreational games for children who are blind or deaf, or who have physical disabilities and only have use of one limb, or require adaptive devices just to move from one spot to the next.
"This equipment will help empower these children to grow, increase their self-esteem and overall development," she continued. "It will enable them the same opportunities many other individuals take for granted."
The PeyBack Foundation was established by Peyton and Ashley Manning in 1999 to promote the future success of disadvantaged youth by assisting programs that provide leadership and growth opportunities to children at risk. The foundation has become a consistent and viable contributor in Tennessee, Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana and beyond, providing more than $12 million in grants and programs since its founding. Peyton Manning not only supports the foundation financially - as president of the foundation, he is active in all major decisions concerning its initiatives and continuously seeks new opportunities and organizations to further the foundation's success and the communities it serves.
