Potential use of former Mt. Juliet YMCA property discussed

The Lebanon couple who bought YMCA of Middle Tennessee land recently in Mt. Juliet contacted that district's commissioner to let him know prospective uses for the property.

Possible uses may be a retail element and some kind of recreational ball fields, District 1 Commissioner Ray Justice said. He said these ideas are very preliminary.

The YMCA sold 54 acres to Michael Sean and Sandra Dee Herbert for $1.5 million, according to YMCA of Middle Tennessee Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications Jessica Fain. The property is on Lebanon Road, in Justice's district.

"I did get a call from them to meet with me and we ended up having a phone conversation," Justice said early this week.

Some of the 54 acres, 20 acres, are "unusable," said Justice. Near the property are new businesses under construction, including Starbucks and Krystal. There is a new sign on the property advertising its proportions and potential sale.
