The Hughston Clinic, a nationally known orthopaedic group, has announced its partnership with Lebanon's Premier Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine.
Located in Columbus, Ga., the Hughston orthopaedic group was founded in 1949 by Jack C. Hughston, M.D., and has been recognized both nationally and internationally for quality treatment of musculoskeletal injury and disease. The Hughston Clinic, along with the nationally ranked Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital, is physician-owned and operated.
Premier Orthopaedics will take on the Hughston name and treat patients at eight different locations throughout Tennessee.
Hughston CEO Mark Baker was instrumental in forging a relationship with Premier President Dr. Joseph A. Wieck and CEO Linda ClenDening, as well as their orthopaedic physicians. Since assuming office in 2009, Baker has worked to make Hughston's vision of offering the highest level of orthopaedic and trauma care in the Southeast a reality. Currently, the Hughston Clinic manages several orthopaedic clinics and orthopaedics in Level II trauma centers in Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee.
"We are excited about our partnership with Premier Orthopaedics," Baker said. "Together we will build an organization that centers itself on excellence and customer service in providing the best orthopaedic care to Nashville and the surrounding area.
"Hughston will provide the organizational infrastructure that will ensure a parallel track in providing a nimble and focused administration for a group of physicians who deliver high quality care."
Wieck agreed, adding, "They physicians of Premier Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine are excited to be affiliated with the world-renowned Hughston Clinic - a long-time, recognized leader in patient care for orthopaedic services. We are made stronger and are better able to face the challenges in the current healthcare environment through this relationship."
Premier physicians will begin seeing patients under the Hughston name on Sept. 26.
