PREP BASEBALL -- Games from March 12

Lebanon High’s baseball team will be back in action Thursday with a 4:30 p.m. game against Cannon County at as Smyrna High at the Smyrna Grand Slam Classic.

On Friday, the Blue Devils face a 4:30 p.m. game vs. Johnson City Science Hill at Riverdale High in pool play. Two games are on tap Saturday at Smyrna -- a 1:30 p.m. contest with Shelbyville Central High and a 6:30 p.m. game with host Smyrna.

Coffee Co. 4, Lebanon 3
MANCHESTER -- Tyler Cavander’s one-out homer in the bottom of the seventh lifted Coffee County to a 4-3 walk off win over Lebanon Wednesday afternoon at Powers Field.
Down 2-0 early, Lebanon rallied to take a 3-2 lead, then saw the Red Raiders tie the score with a run in the six and win it in their final at bat.
Blue Devil outfielder Taylor Bryan’s solo homer to left to lead off the fourth cut Coffe County’s margin in half at 2-1. LHS added two runs in the top of the fifth on RBI singles by Eddie McDaniels and Dawson Hamilton.
Jackson Arnold went the distance on the mound for Lebanon, scattering nine hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out one. LHS dropped to 0-2 with the loss, Coffee County improved to 2-1.

Mt. Juliet 15, NW Whitfield 9
CHATTANOOGA -- Mt. Juliet’s baseball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a wild 15-9 win over NW Whitfield (GA) Wednesday in the opening round of the Scenic City Classic at McCallie.
The Golden Bears scored six runs in the top of the 10th inning to pull ahead for good. Senior Eli Schreiber picked up the win in relief.
Mt. Juliet is scheduled to wrap up pool play Friday at Boyd Buchanan.
The single elimination portion of the tournament begins Satuday.
