WCHS 1, LHS 0 in 10 INNINGS -- Local fans certainly got their moneys worth Wednesday as Wilson Central and Lebanon locked up in a well-pitched 1-0, ten-inning Wildcat victory.

Neither starter, Centrals Tyke Williams and Lebanons Dent Burger, were around for the finish -- a walk-off single by leftfielder A.J. Franklin -- but both effectively kept the others batting order in check.

There were two really good pitchers going at it tonight, said WC coach Anthony Ford, Burger was outstanding and our guy (Williams) was around the plate all night.

Lebanon coach Brian Black echoed Fords thoughts, as well-pitched game as youll find. Both starters were really sharp.

Burger struck out 10, scattering four Wildcat hits with no walks in six and one-third innings. Williams pitched eight complete, striking out 10, allowing five hits and one walk.

In the 10th inning, Centrals Hunter Brothers drew a one-out walk from Antonio Logue and moved to second on a passed ball. He scored the game-winner on Franklins sharp single to center.

Tyler Fish picked up the decision with two innings of no-hit relief.

That was good for A.J., Ford said, hed been scuffling a little. That was some kind of ending.
