LHS plays at Mt. Juliet tonight --
A slight change in schedule due to weather has flipped the two-game series between District 9-AAA and Wilson County rivals Lebanon and Mt. Juliet.

Plans call for the first game of the series to be played Tuesday in Mt. Juliet with a 7:30 p.m. first pitch. The second game of the series to be played Wednesday at Lebanon's Brent Foster Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Golden Bears stood 13-5 on the season following a 4-0 run in Knoxville last week (see story below) while LHS improved to 12-8 overall following two wins last week.

Matt Bell's three-run double helped key an 11-1 victory over Community Christian in the East Robertson Classic. Jake Millay added a two-run single while Adam Cassetty tripled and single to drive in a run. Brady Estes went two-for-two, drove in a run, stole a base.

Winning pitcher Chase Andrews allowed just one hit, struck out three and worked around four walks.

FCS hosts Ezell-Harding
Friendship Christian will host East-Middle District 1-A baseball rival Donelson Christian Academy Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the back end of a two-game district series. The Commanders are scheduled to play at Macon County High in Lafayette Thursday in a 5:30 p.m. contest.

Knox Webb sweeps FCS
LEBANON -- District rival Knox Webb took both ends of a doubleheader Saturday from Friendship Christian, by scores of 9-0 and 4-2.

In Saturday's opener, Webb collected 13 hits and took advantage of two FCS errors in a 9-0 win. The Spartans scored five runs in the third and tacked on four more in the fifth.

Cody Walker had two of Friendship's four hits -- a triple and a single. Marshall Taylor and Joseph McNamee each singled. Jackson Vance went the distance and took the loss.

In the nightcap, FCS took an early 2-1 lead only to see Webb push across two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Walker slugged a solo homer in the second inning and Eli Hunt lined an RBI single to right -- also in the second -- for Friendship's only runs.

Samuel Hollis went six for FCS, the visitor in this game, allowing just two earned runs with no walks and a strikeout.

Friendship slipped to 7-10 on the season with the two losses.

Mt. Juliet goes 4-0
KNOXVILLE -- Mt. Juliet's Golden Bears improved to 13-5 on the season with a 4-0 run last weekend in the Demarini Classic, hosted by Farragut High School.

Mt. Juliet closed out their run with a 5-0 victory over Grace Christian on Saturday.

Sean Hunley (2-0) got the decision for the Bears, throwing six innings of two-hit ball. Hunley struck out six and walked just one batter before giving way to T.K. Vaughn who worked the seventh, striking out two.

Trey Pruitt went 3-for-3 for Mt. Juliet and drove in a run. Alex Deriggi had a two run single and Zach Ehrhart's only hits was a two-run homer.

Mt. Juliet shined with a 5-0 win over host Farragut Friday afternoon as Jacob Cole (2-1) threw a three-hitter at the Admirals. Cole went the distance, striking out eight and working around three walks.

Aaron Brown and Deriggi each had two-run singles for the winners.

Mt. Juliet came from behind for a 10-4 victory over Sycamore High Friday morning -- using four pitchers -- including reliever Nathan McLaughlin (2-0). Brown had a three-run double for the Bears.

Mt. Juliet opened play Thursday evening with a dramatic 7-4 win over Bearden as Brown's three-run HR broke a 4-all tie in the top of the seventh.

Reliever Isaac Houser (1-0) picked up the win and Ethan Smith earned his third save -- striking out the last batter with two aboard in bottom of the seventh.
