LEBANON DOWNS CENTRAL -- It wasn't very pretty. Backyard brawls usually aren't.
Lebanon closed out a tight game with a 15-2 fourth quarter and downed Wilson Central 35-28 Thursday at Campbell Brandon Gym.
Strong defensive efforts from both squads kept the scoring down as the Blue Devils improved to 12-10 overall and 4-6 in District 9AAA.
Wilson Central slipped to 7-10 overall / 3-7 in the league.
No one from either team reached double figures as LHS was led by eight points from Cameron High, seven from Justin Bridges and six each from Ryan Beadle and Case Sloan.
Wilson Central got eight from Jared Stroman and six each from Dee Oldham and Nick Roy.
LHS is scheduled to host Station Camp Tuesday while Wilson Central will entertain Gallatin.
BEARS THUMP PORTLAND -- Mt. Juliet went on an 18-2 fourth run and blew out Portland 45-21 Thursday in a District 9AAA contest.
Coach Troy Allen's Bears improved to 18-4 overall and 8-2 inside the league.
Senior Teraes Clemmons led all scorers as he rolled up 22 points against the Panthers. Vaughn Cornelia added eight while Caleb Chowbay had six.
Mt. Juliet will play at 9AAA-leading Beech High Tuesday.
FCS FALL AS AT GORDONSVILLE -- Friendship Christian slid to 3-3 in District 8A and 14-6 overall following Thursday night's 54-50 road loss at Gordonsville.
The Commanders trailed 25-18 at intermission, only to tie the game after three periods at 37-all.
Josh Sapp drilled three 3-pointers to pace Gordonsville with 20 points.
Friendship's Parker Teeter had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Hardie Sorrels added 10 while Cameron Hill chipped in with eight.
FCS will visit Red Boiling Springs Tuesday night.
TIGERS WIN IN OT AT MONTEREY -- Watertown outscored host Monterey 8-2 in overtime and defeated the Wildcats 57-51 Thursday night.
Tiger guard KeAndre Bates led all scorers with 19 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Dalton Phillips added 10 points while Anthony Jordan had nine.
Watertown is scheduled to play at Eagleville Saturday night, but the impending weather threatens that match-up.
