LHS boys win Beech Invitational
HENDERSONVILLE -- Placing all seven runners in the top 50, Lebanon High’s cross country team won the Beech High Invitational Meet Saturday, Sept. 6 at Sanders Ferry Park.
The Blue Devils finished with 95 points followed by Cookeville at 98 and Station Camp with 105.
LHS senior Mark Britt finished in second place, some 14 seconds behind event winner John Payne of Portland who ran a 16:39. Lebanon’s Anthony Reeves placed eighth at 18:06.
Caleb Kawasaki completed the course in 18:58 for 21st place; Jacob Andrews was 29th at 19:19; Austin Montgomery finished 37th at 19:44; Noah Chance ran a 20:07 for 44th and Cole Langford was 46th at 20:08.
Wilson Central sophomore John Elrod finished sixth in the field of 133 runners with a time of 17:53. Wildcat Joel Barlow was 19th at 18:24.
Mt. Juliet High senior Rephayah Black placed 15th with a time of 18.29 while teammate Daniel Stewart finished 25th at 19:09.
Top locals in girls race
Wilson Central’s Taylor Blankenship was the highest local finisher in the girls race -- placing 11th with a time of 22:36.
Lebanon freshman Allie Dozier placed 16th with a time of 23:21 and Mt. Juliet’s Brittany Swanson placed 17th with a time of 23:45.
The LHS cross country teams are idle weekend before returning to run at the Backyard Invitational in Sparta, Saturday, Sept. 20.
