Two winless football teams match up tonight as District 9AAA rivals Portland and Lebanon square off at Clifton Tribble Field / Danny Watkins Stadium.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. with live radio coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. on WANT FM-98.9 and WAMB FM-99.3. A live video feed is available for free viewing online at

Portland comes in 0-6 / 0-3 in the district after a 48-8 loss to league-leading Hendersonville last week.

Coach Sam Harp's Blue Devils stand 0-7 / 0-4 after losing to Gallatin 35-0 Friday, Oct. 3 at home.

"We're both in the same boat," Coach Harp said earlier this week. "We need a win in the worst way and Portland does too. We've got to keep our heads and avoid making of the silly, careless mistakes that have been killing us."

Senior Taye Davis, Lebanon's leading ground gainer this season, is expected to be back in uniform after missing the Gallatin contest with concussion symptoms.

Offensive lineman / punter Mason Reeves will not dress tonight due to a concussion he suffered two weeks ago at Cookeville.

Pickett County at Mt. Juliet Christian
The Saints of Mt. Juliet Christian Academy will be at home tonight as Pickett County comes in for a non-district game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Suey Field on the MJCA campus.

Coach Dan Davis' club is 0-6 on the season following last week's 42-0 loss at Friendship Christian School.

Pickett County (2-5) stands 2-4 following a 33-0 loss to Clay County a week ago.

Back on Oct. 3, the Bobcats picked up a 41-34 victory over Jellico, the first for interim head coach Brittney Garner.

Mt. Juliet at Hendersonville
Mt. Juliet will be on the road tonight as the Golden Bears travel to Sumner County to take on District 9AAA power Hendersonville High. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.

Mt. Juliet slipped to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the district follow a tough 34-30 home loss to Beech last week.

The Commandos hammered Portland 49-8 a week ago and sit atop the district standings with a perfect 4-0 mark / 6-1 overall.

Hendersonville holds a 25-21-1 advantage in the all-time series between the two programs located on either sides of Old Hickory Lake.

The teams met 26 consecutive seasons from 1977 to 2002 but did not play again until 2009 when they both were placed in District 9AAA.

In the 2013 meeting at Mt. Juliet, Hendersonville broke out to a 31-0 halftime lead and eventually won by a 59-20 score.

Watertown at Jo Byrns
Watertown High enters tonight's non-district game at Jo Byrns without the services of versatile Austin Brown.

A senior, Brown's season and career came to an end in last week's 16-14 loss at Gordonsville due to a knee injury.

Both squads come in with just two wins on the season. Jo Byrns opened the season with a pair of wins, but have since dropped four in a row -- including last week's 35-20 decision at Clarksville Academy.

The Purple Tigers enter the game 2-5 following the Gordonsville loss.

Davidson Academy at Friendship Christian
Friendship Christian School will host Davidson Academy tonight in a 7 p.m. contest at Pirtle Field.

The Commanders sport a record of 5-1 while the Bears of DA are 3-4 under first year head coach Jonathan Quinn.

FCS thumped MJ Christian last week by a 42-0 score.
