Spray breaks own record
PORTLAND -- Wilson Central's Kendall Spray bettered her own single season record for 3-pointers in Tuesday's 67-28 victory at Portland High.
The UT-Martin signee connected on six of her 10 tries from beyond the arc and finished with 28 points. The six 3-pointers gave her 141 for the season -- breaking the mark she set last year of 139.
WCHS led 16-5 after one quarter and 28-15 at intermission. Addison Byrd added 13 points for the winners.
The Lady Wildcats improved to 25-0 on the season and 13-0 in District 9-AAA with only a Friday home game with Mt. Juliet left on the schedule.
BOYS -- Wilson Central's boys upped their record to 12-13 on the season and 4-7 in the district with a 55-39 win over Portland in Tuesday's second game.
LHS sweeps at Beech
SHACKLE ISLAND -- Lebanon's Devilettes pushed their modest winning streak to four with another last second victory -- a 48-47 decision at Beech Tuesday.
Guard Zyrina Neuble nailed a 12-footer with 2.7 seconds left in regulation to lift LHS to 13-14 overall and 6-7 in District 9-AAA.
Caleah Shannon and Bailey Sells led the way with 10 points each while Jordyne Denney chipped in with eight.
(boys) Lebanon 63, Beech 52
The Blue Devils improved to 20-5 on the season and 10-3 in the district following a 63-52 win at Portland in Tuesday's second game.
Keobe Neuble led Lebanon with 20 points while Noah Mulaski drilled five 3-pointers and finished with 19. Eddie Jackson recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards and Tay Jackson had eight.
Lebanon will close out the district portion of the schedule at Portland Friday, then play at White County High in Sparta Monday.
MJ splits with Station Camp
Mt. Juliet's Lady Bears took and early lead and never looked back in recording a 53-42 home win over Station Camp Tuesday.
MJHS pulled ahead 22-4 in the first quarter and took a 32-10 lead into intermission -- improving to 15-7 overall and 10-3 in District 9-AAA.
Tavie Bell led the Lady Bears with 19 points, Karly Dyer added 16 and Payton Brumbach connected on four 3-pointers for her 12 points.
(boys) Station Camp 61, Mt. Juliet 55
Top-ranked Station Camp remained undefeated at 27-0 on the season with a 61-55 win at Mt. Juliet Tuesday.
Austin Brown led the Golden Bears with 15 points, Tyler Faulkenberry had 13 while J.R. Sanders and Christian Bell had eight each.
Now 19-7 overall, 9-4 in the district, Mt. Juliet closes the regular season at home Friday vs. Wilson Central.
