PREP SOCCER -- SC tops Central on PK's

GLADEVILLE -- Station Camp outlasted Wilson Central on penalty kicks 6-5 in a District 9-AAA soccer match Tuesday, April 1 at WCHS.

The contest was tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation as Wildcat Houston Comer scored on a penalty kick late in the first half.

A 20 minute overtime period did not produce a goal, forcing a shootout. After five scheduled rounds Comer, Ryan Lewis, Issac King and Caleb Wharton all scored to make for a 4-4 tie.

Sudden death kicks were then taken, Justin Dillard made the round six goal for the wildcats only to have the Bison goalie make a save off the foot of Salman Rahmani in the seventh round to give the PK advantage to Station Camp 6-5.

Wildcat keeper Joshua Smith carded eight saves as Wilson Central slipped to 2-0-2. WCHS will play at Beech High Tuesday, April 8.

Mt. Juliet 3, LaVergne 0
LaVERGNE -- Senior Cameron Woodfin scored all three goals as Mt. Juliet’s soccer team rolled to a 3-0 victory at LaVergne High Tuesday, April 1.

Woodfin, one of the top scorers in the mid-state, logged a goal in the first half and two more after intermission. He has now recorded “hat tricks” in three of the last four games.

Austin Twomey recorded four saves in goal for the Golden Bears.

Mt. Juliet will be back in action Monday, April 7 at Cookeville High.

MJ Christian 6, Davidson Acad. 5
MT. JULIET -- Down 4-1 early in the second period, Mt. Juliet Christian Academy rallied for a stirring 6-5 victoy over visiting Davidson Academy, Tuesday, April 1.

Chase Michael scored the game winniner in the final minute of regulation as the Saints improved to 2-2 on the season
