PREP VOLLEYBALL: FCS 3, Lebanon 1

The Lady Commanders won the White County Invitational over the weekend, picking up seven victories.


Alex Sealy led the Lady Commanders with 21 kills and 10 digs and Autumn Josey added 12 kills and 17 digs. Sam Finley finished with 10 digs.


FCS will be on the road Thursday at Nashville Christian School.


Lebanon High, fresh off a 3-0 sweep Tuesday night at District 9-AAA rival Hendersonville, slipped to 7-4 overall with the loss.


"I thought we played very well," said LHS coach Adrienne Dotson. "we're close, we're just not there quite yet. We struggled a little on our serve / receive. We talked and moved well."


Alex Britt led LHS with nine kills, a pair of aces, seven digs and a block. Nicole Painter added 10 kills, two aces, five digs and a block.


Kelsey Yarbrough had nine kills and a block; Megan Brown had 13 digs and Tatum Thompson came through with two kills, 31 assists, 11 digs and a block.


LHS is scheduled to host District 9-AAA rival Wilson Central Thursday in a 6 p.m. varsity match.


ON TUESDAY -- LHS topped host Trousdale County 3-1; game scores: 25-12, 25-27 and 25-12. The Lady Devils closed out the evening with a 2-0 sweep of Mt. Juliet Christian Academy 25-12 and 25-10.


Kelsey Yarbrough had 13 kills vs. Trousdale County while Alex Britt chipped in with 8 kills, 2 aces, 13 digs and a block. Bri Clemmons finished with 11 kills, seven digs. Setter Tatum Thompson had 34 assists and nine digs.


In the MJCA match, Clemmons hammered nine kills and served three aces. Nicole Painter tallied five kills and Megan Brown had seven digs.


The Lady Saints (2-2 overall) were led by Lauren Wankle with six digs and three kills, Meredith Orr with six assists and April Bennett with an ace.


MJ Christian is scheduled to play St. Andrews-Sewanee Tuesday, Sept. 3.


Over the weekend, LHS went went 2-3 in Smyrna's Bulldog Bash. The Lady Devils lost to Father Ryan (0-2); lost to Beech (0-2); defeated Kenwood (2-0); defeted Arlington (2-0) and lost to host Smyrna (1-2).


Mt. Juliet tops Smyrna 3-1MT. JULIET -- Despite losing the opening set, Mt. Juliets Lady Bears finished in impressive fashion Monday to defeat Smyrna 3-1. Game scores: 16-25, 25-18, 25-17 and 25-21.


Ryann Amity and Allyson Huffman finished with 14 kills each as MJHS improved to 3-4 on the season. Michelle Mason passed out 28 assists, while Huffman had 18 digs. Shelby Woodard finished with four blocks.
