Funeral services for Mr. Baker are scheduled for 1 p.m.Wednesday, Feb. 29at the Immanuel Baptist Church with Bro. Donald Owens, Bro. Carl Jones, and Pastor John Hunn officiating. Interment will follow at the Wilson County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation Tuesday 4-8 PM at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home and Wednesday after 11 AM at Immanuel Baptist Church.
Mr. Baker, 71, Lebanon passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at his home.
Born July 2, 1940 in Brush Creek, he is the son of the late Horace and Mary Frances Thomason Baker.He is a 1958 graduate of Watertown High School where he excelled in football.
He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He worked45 years in sales, 20 years at Sunbeam Bread Company as a supervisor, and25 years with Little Debbie as a district sales manager.
He also was preceded in death by his son, Michael Ralph Baker and his in laws, Julious & Dessie Vaden Durham.
He is survived by his wife of54 years, Charlene Durham Baker who was his high school sweetheart; children Sherry (Jerry) Swack; Cindy (David) Arnold; and Teresa Wilson; daughter in law,Tammy Baker; grandchildren Jessica (Ian) Moore, Audrey Wilson, Sarah Vantrease, Holly & Heather Arnold, Austin, Brent & Zachary Baker; two step granddaughters, five step great grandchildren; siblings Dorothy (Jim) Putman; James R. (Cathy) Baker; Ray (Delores) Baker; sister in law, Evelyn (Malcolm) Simmons; special friends, Bobby & Patsy Kemp, Jack & Lestel Cantrell, Ray & Kathy Adams, Sue Barnes, Cindy Comer, Jennifer Crook, Joe Hendricks & Stacie Perez.
Honorary pallbearers: Austin, Brent, Zachary, Curt & Scott Baker. Active pallbearers: Jack Cantrell, Jack Hale, Donald Oakley, John Vaden, Marvin Fisher & Lyndon Wilson.
