Reader: God is bigger than all our problems and situations

To the Editor:

I appreciated so much reading the letter written by Ada Hawpe. She made a very good point in her letter in the Feb. 26 edition of The Wilson Post, regarding our future generation. I stand with her, as we Christians should all be as concerned.

But what Ms. Hawpe may or may not know is that the ACLU didn't make the decision to stop the Bibles from being handed out to fifth graders. Our school Director and the School Board made that decision. We don't have enough money to operate our schools as it is; it's my opinion I feel they would rather just give in than to fight an expensive lawsuit. I believe that is why they made that decision.

Of course, that is our loss in Wilson County. While I understand their reasoning, and I certainly respect the rights of those opposing, I am saddened that they made that decision.

While yes, I do believe the ACLU would stop at nothing to make their point for their clients, I also think we could learn something from them. They are not ashamed to let the world know where they stand. Christian values are under attack. But we must stop sitting idly by while our religious freedoms and our values are not welcomed in our society. We too, must not be ashamed to stand on our beliefs. We must stand together and persevere.  School shootings are happening daily across the country. Teachers are being put in the impossible positions to perform miracles to turn out all straight "A" students, or their jobs are in jeopardy. It looks as if we are slowly pushing God out of our schools and out our personal lives to the point that we are jeopardizing our own future and the future of our precious children.

We, as believers, can lift up in prayer: our leaders, our School Board, our students and teachers, that Almighty God keep them safe and fill them with wisdom as they all face the days ahead in our troubling world. Our prayers WILL and can make a difference! God is bigger than all our problems and situations!

We are facing giants in the land! (many problems), but oh, let me tell you of One who can deliver you from all those giants in your personal life, as well as in Wilson County! Elaine MountLebanon
