Think outside the box this holiday season and donate blood at local blood drives held by the American Red Cross in Wilson County, the perfect gift for this in need of blood.
Locally, you may give blood on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Cooks United Methodist Church located at 7919 Lebanon Road in Mt. Juliet; on Thursday, Dec. 8, from noon to 5 p.m., at Immanuel Baptist Church at 214 Castle Heights Ave. in Lebanon; on Friday, Dec. 9, from 8 a.m. to noon, at University Medical Center at 1411 Baddour Pkwy. in Lebanon; and from noon to 5 p.m., at Sports Village Aerobic Studio at 1735 West Main Street in Lebanon.
Its the season of giving and theres one gift that wont cost you a penny, but means the world to a patient in need, said Tim Ryerson, CEO, Tennessee Valley Blood Services Region. By donating blood, you can give someone an opportunity to spend another holiday with their loved ones.
All blood types are needed to help maintain a sufficient blood supply, especially O-Negative. Type O-Negative blood, the universal blood type, is always in high demand because it can be transfused to patients with any blood type, especially in emergency situations.
