Refreezing of roads expected tonight

  Email   Print

Don’t let down your guard if you must be out on the roadways later today and tonight as refreezing is expected to occur, once again causing patches of black ice.

That’s the word from the National Weather Service Office in Old Hickory which noted in a Hazardous Weather Outlook that roads that were covered in snow and ice would remain dangerous for travel this afternoon and tonight. Water that thawed earlier in the day will refreeze tonight which will cause black ice patches on roadways as temperatures will be below freezing.

In addition, bridges and overpasses will be subject to refreezing as well.

The low Monday night into Tuesday morning should be about 13 degrees.

Roads and bridges covered with ice and snow will still be hazardous through mid-morning on Tuesday. The high should rise to the mid 40s during the day under mostly sunny skies.

Pay attention to local weather and road conditions through TV and radio, NOAA Weather Radio, the Internet and social media.
