LEBANON -- Mt. Juliet High's basketball team will play on the road Monday, March 6 in the Class AAA substate at Independence High with a berth in the 2017 state tournament hanging in the balance.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Independence High, located in Thompson's Station.

Independence (22-10) won the Region 6-AAA title game Thursday, tripping Brentwood High 53-49.

Coach Troy Allen's Golden Bears lost their Region 5-AAA championship contest Thursday, falling to Clarksville Northeast 52-52 on a last-second dunk from Rasean Taylor, at Lebanon High's Campbell Brandon Gymnasium.

Mt. Juliet enters Monday game at Independence with a record of 23-10 on the season.

The Bears led 34-22 headed into the final eight minutes when tournament MVP Jontae Brown went off. Brown sank four 3-pointers and scored 14 of his 18 points to lead the Eagles back into contention. Jaylon Tharpe added 13 for Northeast while Alec Kegler and Taylor each had eight points.

JR Sanders led Mt. Juliet with 13 points; Trey Pruitt had 12 and Issac Stephens finished with seven.
