Riley Benjamin Butler, 83

WATERTOWN — Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, January 26 at the Hunter Funeral Home for Mr. Butler, 83, of Lebanon. Born in North Carolina, the electrician and US Army veteran of World War II died Jan. 23, 2010 at University Medical Center.

Known as “Ben” to his family and friends, he was a member of Lebanon’s Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Services were conducted by Rev. Kevin Medlin with burial at the Jones Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include: daughters Sandra (David) Adams of Gladeville and Diane (Doug) parsley of Watertown; and grandchildren David (Lena) Adams, Tabitha Clemmons and Jenna (Wade) Davis — all of Watertown, Davina (Tim) Morse and April (Mike) smith — all of Smyrna, Natalie Adams of Gladeville and Rhiannon (Nick) Hiter of Nashville.

Also surviving are nine great grandchildren and a great, great grandson; the mother of his children Alice Butler of Watertown; siblings Eloise Denney and Charlie (Betty) Butler — both of Lebanon; Bobby (Shirley) Butler of Hermitage and Tommy Butler of Mt. Juliet along with several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents Riley B. and Addie Elizabeth Butler; siblings: Evelyn Thompson, Joe and Jimmy Butler and Tat Olds. Arrangements by Hunter Funeral Home, Watertown.
