LEBANON -- Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, September 8 at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home for Mrs. James, 76, of Lebanon.
She passed away Friday, September 5, 2008, at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin.
Born September 19, 1931, in Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Eleanor Burton Gray.
She and her husband operated James’ Fruit Stand in Gallatin from 1967-1972 and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Laguardo Baptist Church where she taught a children’s Sunday School class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Jimmy Gray.
Services were conducted by Elder Dee Russell officiating. Interment followed at the Crestview Memorial Park in Gallatin.
Grandsons and grandsons-in-law served as pallbearers.
Survivors include: her husband of 60 years W. H. James Sr.; children W. H. (Priscilla) James Jr. and William "Bill" (Peggy Sue) James — all of Oak Grove; Annette (Horace) Darnell of Lebanon; Debbie Todd of Bethpage; Lynne James Lynch and Patricia James -- both of Lebanon.
Also surviving are sisters Peggy (Joe) Leath and Doris (David) McWilliams -- all of Mt. Juliet and brothers Tommy (Lorene) Gray and Ralph (Ruth) Gray -- all of Lebanon; sister-in-law Shirley Gray of Mt. Juliet; grandchildren Pennie (Dave) Bergman, Tammie (Dwight) Prock, Jesse (Jennifer) James, Billy (Tamara) James, Amanda (Russell) Breece, Samantha (Shannon) Reed, Walter (Melissa) Todd Jr., Chris Todd, Kenny (Brandi) Lynch and Kelly Lynch; as well as 12 great grandchildren.
Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
