Game film from the 1971 Girls’ State Basketball Championship won by Lebanon High School, coached by Campbell Brandon, will be available for viewing 6 p.m. Thursday, June 19 in the West Building of the James E. Ward Agricultural Center as Circuit Court Clerk candidate Bud Brandon hosts "A Salute to Wilson County Basketball Champions” between the hours of 4-8 pm.

“We will also be showing game footage from the Mt. Juliet Girls’ State Championship game, Wilson Central Girls’ State Championship games, Friendship Boys’ State Championship game, Wilson Central Boys’ State Tournament team, and Watertown Boys’ State Tournament team,” Bud Brandon said.

“The highlight will be the 1971 Girls’ State Championship game back when the girls’ game was still six-on-six.  We will start the “Salute to Champions” video at 4 p.m. and loop it throughout the night. The 1971 Lebanon State Championship game will start at 6 p.m. and then we will go back to the other game footage. There will be a couple of screens going so folks can watch at their leisure.”

"I'm in the process of trying to contact some of the players from these championship teams so they can be available to share some of their special memories of this exciting time in their basketball career,” stated Brandon.

Everyone’s help in contacting any of these players and inviting them to this event would be greatly appreciated.

Call Event Coordinator Coach Jay “Doc” Holladay at 615-504-9424 or e-mail at

No admission will be charged and barbeque, baked potatoes and brownies will be served.
