SOUIX FALLS, SD -- Former Cumberland infielder Sam Lind inked a professional contract over the weekend with the Sioux Falls Canaries in the independent American Association. He singled and scored in his first career professional game on Sunday for his home state team.

Lind was a First Team All-American this season at Cumberland, batting .404 with 17 doubles, 16 home runs, 91 RBI and 64 runs scored in 69 contests. He posted 109 hits, fourth-most all-time in a single season, and led the NAIA in total bases (180), hits (109) and RBI.

He joins former Bulldogs Aaron Wilkerson (Grand Prairie [TX] AirHogs), also in the American Association, and Cory Urquhart (Evansville [IN] Otters) in the Frontier League in independent leagues.
