It seems every year the Wilson County Fair has a day that breaks attendance records from previous years and this year, Saturday set an all-time record with 116,532 visitors.
According to the latest attendance numbers, this year's fair began with one of the lowest first-day crowds with 29,018, down from 51,302 last year. But Saturday made up that difference in a big way.
The Saturday crowd was an increase of 41,713 over 2011 and an increase of over 72,700 compared to 2010, when rain and poor weather plagued the fair all week.
Sunday's attendance was lower that last year, but still amounted to 60,026. Last year, 73,576 attendees visted the fair on the lone Sunday.
The attendance on Saturday passed a few other days in the fair's history that also had over 100,000 visitors, including the second Saturday of last year's fair, which saw 109,603 visitors. The first Saturday in 2009 saw 105,779 visitors and the first Saturday of the 2004 fair had 100,338 visitors.
The total attendance for the first three days totals 205,576.
